Neon Methodology Tutorial at ISWC 2009
From NeOn Project
On October 26th 2009, Aldo Gangemi, Valentina Presutti, Eva Blomqvist, Asunción Gómez-Pérez and Mari Carmen Suárez-Figueroa attended ISWC 2009 to give a full day tutorial on the Neon Methodology Framework.
The tutorial was divided into two main parts:
- The first section was devoted to ontology modelling through Ontology Design Patterns (ODPs) and involved theory about ODPs and practical issues with using the XD-plug-in in the NeOn Toolkit being presented to the audience.
- The second part was devoted to the NeOn Methodology Framework, with a focus on the scenarios for building ontology networks, and on methodological guidelines for ontology requirements specification, scheduling, ontological resource reuse, and non-ontological resource reuse and reengineering. We also presented to the audience the gOntt plug-in for scheduling activity and the Watson plug-in for ontological resource reuse.
10 people - from widely differing backgrounds - attended for the duration of the tutorial, participating actively and providing constructive positive feedback, comments and suggestions.
